What can I expect to find at an Ontario Early Years Centre (OEYC)?

  • Opportunities to learn about Child Development
  • A place to meet other parents, caregivers, Early Learning Professionals and community partners
  • Qualified staff
  • Literacy based programs
  • Visits by a Speech Pathologist or Early Literacy Specialist
  • Programs for children with varying needs, such as preschool speech and language services, parent education, etc.
  • Information and referrals for various community support services for families
  • Special "Dad's" programs
  • Workshops by the Health Unit and other community partners, such as "Parenting Stress", "Disciplining Your Child", "Toilet Training" and "Picky Eaters", etc.
  • Special programs such as, "Mother Goose", "Triple 'P' Parenting", "Family Math", "Infant Massage", etc.
  • Some special events, such as demonstrations by Aboriginal drummers and visits to the Fire Department, etc.

Many of the Ontario Early Years Centres have monthly calendars that are posted at the centre, so you can be informed of what is happening. Please ask the OEYC facilitator about what exciting programs are being offered. Details about the hours of operation, along with a description guide of the programs available are listed in the pdf.
